The Malcolm X Museum is a real, living museum under construction.

When constructed, in Harlem, the Museum's walls and windows will house the most extensive available collection of information, memorabilia, documents, photos, audio materials and video materials about the life, thought and times of Malcolm X.

But, as a living Museum, it will also reflect Brother Malcolm's commitment and vision by offering an extensive array of state of the art technical resources; spaces for study, meeting and entertainment; and constant educational and informational programs.

The plans for the Museum were initially developed by a Board of Trustees comprised of long-time activists. Those plans have been constantly enhanced by the contributions of people from all over the world. That development continues as we search for a site for the Museum and develop financing and resources for its construction.

This web site is designed to reflect the essence of the Museum. That will continue to be the case as the physical Museum is constructed, opens and functions.

For now, our site reflects our plans and provides an on-line version of the Museum's resources and services.

On the left, there are links to the site's various sections:

The Tour section offers a short "virtual tour" of the Museum as it is envisioned. We encourage you to take that tour if you're visiting for the first time.

The Background section explains who we are, the history and developing goals of this project and its current status.

The Collections section features an on-line glimpse of what we envision as the Museum's resources. There are sub-sections of documents, photos, audio and visual materials for downloading and a links section of related sites.

Finally, the Community section features message boards, a chat room and other resources for visitors to get together on line and talk with each other. Eventually, this will also be the home for on-line classes.
